Ty fell in love with endurance sport as a teenager and never looked back. Since his first days as a scrawny high school cross country runner, he has grown to a US National Champion, a World Championship Silver Medalist, and a World Record holder.

As an athlete, Ty has progressed immensely from his humble roots as a high schooler (running only 18:30 for 5K), before competing in NCAA Div. 3 track and cross country for Tufts University. Upon graduating, he chased his running dreams and moved to South America where his dedication and subsequent improvement at longer distances earned him a sponsorship from HOKA ONE ONE.

Since then, Ty has established himself as a world-class endurance runner, making three US National Teams for the 50km World Championships (finishing w/ individual silver in ‘16) and winning his first National Championships over 50 Miles in 2019. Over this decade of improvement, he also improved his best times to 2:46 (50K, #2 all time US mark), 2:15 (marathon), 1:03 (half), and competed at two US Olympic Marathon Trials (‘16, ‘20). Entering the Trail world, he has also set speed records on the Inca Trail (‘19) and Everest Base Camp Trail (‘20).

However, Tyler’s passion for athletics transcends his own running career. For 10 years, he has worked to empower other athletes through coaching and mentorship via his work with Strive-Peru. He’s been coaching -- both in person and online -- for most of the last decade and hopes to continue to lead athletes to new triumphs over the years to come.
